In the Spotlight feature kicked off in April 2015 and is an opportunity for authors, editors and publishers (basically anyone in the book industry (yes, even bloggers!)) to connect with fans. There is an option to do an interview, guest post, feature a book sale or book release or a cover reveal. Best of all, it’s free! All you need to do is click on the image to reserve your spot!
Now on with the show!
In the Spotlight with JL Long
Welcome to Second Run Reviews, JL! Thank you for being In the Spotlight. I appreciate you stopping by and answering a few questions. So let’s get things started.
In a tweet (140 characters or less), tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a lover of books, animals, and kids. I spend my days living the dream.
Please tell a bit about your journey to becoming a published author. What’s been the best things about it and the worst?
My journey into this indie world has been a wild one. I’ve been a writer for a long time but up until about two years ago I finally decided to take the plunge. I love everything about this little community. The people, the generosity, everything… even the flaws.
Tell us a bit about your latest release. What inspired you to write it? Why should fans of Second Run Reviews consider reading it.
The Sacred Truth was a very rough book for me to write. It is a second chance romance novel that pulls at your heartstrings. This one took me about a year to write (three different times, I might add lol!) All of my books have touches of real life in them. My heroes aren’t perfect and neither are my heroines, but if you are looking for a special book that will make you feel warm and fuzz and also make you feel that you’re not alone, then give mine a chance.
What types of books do you enjoy reading the most? What three books to you find yourself recommending to your fans over and over?
I love reading romance books, that is my favorite genre. However, I do enjoy mystery & thrillers. My three recommended reads are…
- To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
- Where The Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
- 1st To Die by James Patterson
What is your current obsession? Any secret obsessions you would like to share?
Antiquing is my current obsession — I love finding old hidden gems and displaying them in my home. My secret obsession is that I love Alex O’Loughlin (that’s not really a secret, it’s pretty well known haha!!)
Hope that help feed that obsession. 😉
What is one question you wish I would have asked, that I haven’t?
How do I come up with my characters – All of my characters come from a bit of real life people I have met throughout my life. All my heroines have a bit of me in them. All my heroes are a little different. These guys just come to me the way they are. Perfectly imperfect, if you will. I just add bits and pieces to them (mostly those pieces are from my husband) to bring them more to life.
Any last thoughts or wise words you want to pass along?
My advice to anyone is to never let anyone tell you you aren’t good enough. You are and always will be. Reach for the stars.
****Thank you so much for allowing me to be interviewed here at Second Run Reviews!****
You are welcome, JL. Thank you for being In the Spotlight this week. I hope you’ll come back soon and tell us about your next release!
Synopsis: Love is a strange thing. It can heal, it can hurt and it can be astonishing. For Rori and Colt, it is all of these things.
Rori is a single mom, looking for love in all the wrong places. Until one fateful night her hero comes to her without her even knowing it. She doesn’t want to give in to what her heart tells her. She has too much at stake to risk a dance on the wild side.
Colt isn’t the type to settle down. He’s been there done that and got left high and dry. He throws himself into his work and living the simple life. Or as simple as he can until the demons come calling.
Can they pull through when it seems like the universe is doing everything in its power to pull them apart? Can love really conquer all?
Synopsis: The only failures in life are the mistakes you don’t learn from.
It was only supposed to be casual. Then I fell for her. Falling head first in love, only to have fear rip it out from underneath me. I severed us with my destructive words. Correcting all the mistakes I’ve made is what I have to do, I just don’t know how.
She does. She always knows what to do.
However, fate has a way of deciding things like this for us, doesn’t it?
This is part of the Tactical Men Series. It can be read as a standalone though we meet Nolan and Jenna in A Dance Worth Dancing.
