Series: The Traveler Chronicles

Riding the Stream Again | Prisoner by Dennis W. Green

Riding the Stream Again | Prisoner by Dennis W. Green

Back in 2013, I met Dennis at the local science fiction and fantasy convention. After attending his reading, I purchased his first book Traveler, devoured it and have been shouting my love for the book since my first review here on Second Run Reviews. At last year’s ICON, I was thrilled to learn that Traveler would have sequel, Prisoner and was treated to a preview chapter during a late night author reading. I would doubly thrilled when Dennis offered me an eARC of Prisoner earlier this summer. For those of you who have read Traveler, you are in for another wild ride when you pick up Prisoner. Trav Becker and all his doubles are back at it shifting through parallel realities and trying to save the universe. Prisoner moved at a faster pace than Traveler; gone are the interludes. The reader isn’t “forced” to take a break from the action. You are able to read as fast as your eyes and mind can process the words on the page. While Prisoner‘s plot moves at break neck speed, the writing has a more relaxed feel. Trav is in even more trouble with the FBI looking over his shoulder and the stakes […]

Cover Reveal + Giveaway: Prisoner by Dennis W. Green

Cover Reveal + Giveaway: Prisoner by Dennis W. Green

I’m so excited today to share with you the cover of Prisoner by Dennis W. Green, the next book in The Traveler Chronicles series. I am a huge fan of Dennis’ first book, Traveler. It had the honor of being the first book I reviewed on Second Run Reviews. The covers of Traveler and Prisoner were designed by Clayton Chambers. Prisoner will be avalable for pre-order in July with a release date of August 1. I’m honored that Dennis chose my birthday as the release date of Prisoner! Dennis has been a frequent guest at Second Run Reviews. Besides checking out my review of Traveler, you should also check out his In the Spotlight interview from earlier this month and the great post A.R. Miller wrote about their collaboration with Rachel Eliason. And without further ado, here is the cover for Prisoner! About Prisoner From Dennis’s most recent newsletter: Prisoner takes place about a year after the events of Traveler. True to his word, Trav Becker has retired from dimension-hopping and settled into a normal life. At least, as normal as the life of a police detective can get. As the book opens, Trav is racing against time to solve […]

Crime Fiction, Science Fiction or Both? | Traveler by Dennis W. Green

Crime Fiction, Science Fiction or Both? | Traveler by Dennis W. Green

Traveler is a science fiction mystery novel. Travis (Trav) Becker has the ability to travel between parallel universes and it turns out another version of himself is hunting down the other versions of himself. Of course, the big question is, Why? Sounds complicated, right? Well, it is, but it isn’t. Green has great skill in laying out a complicated plot in a fashion that intrigues you and keeps you wanting to know what’s going to happen next. Even though he introduces several different versions of each of the characters, you can easily follow which version (or versions) you are encountering. Also, the science behind the travel between universes is neatly explained and for someone who isn’t a hardcore science fiction geek (and who loves time travel plots, but is just as easily confused by them), I understood it and was able to easily explain it to my husband.* The only thing I wasn’t keen on were the interludes. The Interludes just seemed to pop up out of no where and did not seem to have a connection with the portion of the book I just finished reading. The Burton Tupper Interlude (page 87) was the most jarring to me. I […]
