Iain Reading, author | In the Spotlight Interview

Today I’m happy to welcome Iain Reading, author of the Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency series. Before we jump into the interview, here’s a bit about Kitty and her detective agency. There are currently five books in the Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency Series: Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold (book 1), Kitty Hawk and the Hunt for Hemingway’s Ghost (book 2), Kitty Hawk and the Icelandic Intrigue (book 3), and Kitty Hawk and the Tragedy of the RMS Titanic (book 4), and Kitty Hawk and the Mystery of the Masterpieces (book 5). Each book can be read as a standalone. “In the Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency Series the heroine finds herself in a new geographic location in each book. The series will eventually have a total of 13 books in it (maybe more) and her flight around the world will be completed in the end,” says Iain. “The books are sequential but one could definitely read any of the later ones before reading the earlier ones.”   In the Spotlight Iain Reading Welcome to Second Run Reviews, Iain! Thank you for being In the Spotlight. I appreciate you stopping by and answering a few questions. […]

Welcome, Emerald!   In the Spotlight Emerald O’Brien Welcome to Second Run Reviews, Emerald! Thank you for being In the Spotlight. I appreciate you stopping by and answering a few questions. So let’s get things started. In a tweet (140 characters or less), tell us a bit about yourself.   I am Canadian, and live with my husband and our two beagle pups. Lover of books; mystery and suspense are my favs, and movies (love horror).      Well, I need to be better with my research. If I had known you were from Canada, I would have loaded this interview with travel advice since I’m venturing to Canada soon for my summer trip. But since I apparently need to improve upon my research skills, I’ll move on to the next question I have prepared. Please share your journey to becoming an author. What keeps you going? My journey probably started when I wrote […]

The Unknown Power of Books | In the Spotlight Guest Post

The Unknown Power of Books | In the Spotlight Guest Post

The Unknown Power of Books by Swati Prakash   We all know about the obvious power of books – the knowledge, the inspiration and the numerous hours of entertainment they provide. But is there something more sinister to them at work, unknown to us overtly. Are books just books – or are they magical beings that start affecting our lives in ways we never realised? Look at your bookshelf and look at your life – just observe and try to connect the two. Are there any similarities? Some of you will begin to realise so many…some of you may take more time. The similarities may not be literal, or they may be. The way our books connect with us may be superficial or deep rooted. Perhaps we were drawn to certain books because they called out to us, like a lost part of our soul wanting to be right back home. And no matter how much we deny it – books change us – they have changed us and will continue to change us, more deeply than we can imagine. As for me, I live in a magickal world (so do you, whether you know it or not). In my […]
