in the spotlight feature

In the Spotlight feature kicked off in April 2015 and is an opportunity for authors, editors and publishers (basically anyone in the book industry (yes, even bloggers!)) to connect with fans. There is an option to do an interview, guest post, feature a book sale or book release or a cover reveal. Best of all, it’s free! All you need to do is click on the image to reserve your spot!

Now on with the show!

In the Spotlight with Paisleigh Aumack

in the spotlight question

Welcome to Second Run Reviews, Paisleigh! Thank you for being In the Spotlight. I appreciate you stopping by and answering a few questions. So let’s get things started.

In a tweet (140 characters or less), tell us a bit about yourself.

I love creating in any form, music, friends, and my family. I live life honestly and make no apologies for that, <3

Creating stuff is so fun. I love writing and meeting other folks who create things!

Please tell a bit about your journey to becoming a published author. What’s been the best things about it and the worst?

The best thing about my journey thus far has to be the people I have met. I have found myself one of the greatest support systems and I cherish the people in that system every day. The worst part has been the lack of time I seem to have to write. It stinks big time, but I do what I can, when I can.

in the spotlight question

I have found that the writing community is a welcoming one. Some of my closest friends I met via reading groups or by attending events featuring authors. It’s been amazing!

Tell us a bit about your latest release. What inspired you to write it? Why should fans of Second Run Reviews consider reading it.

Hopefully by the time this goes live, my debut will be live as well. I was inspired to write this story because of a song. I tried to write a story I thought could relate well to the everyday person. It was a story that almost overwhelmed me to write. I wanted Arianna’s story to help at least one person. If it does, then that is the best gift I could ever receive.

I think fans of Second Run Reviews should read it because it’s a story about love, loss, and music. Everyone has experienced all these things in some way, shape, or form.

in the spotlight question

What types of books do you enjoy reading the most? What three books to you find yourself recommending to your fans over and over?

I love alpha men. So anything that has one of those, I will pick up. I also love the guy that is the womanizing jerk that gets knocked on his ass when he finds the one woman who doesn’t stand for his crap.

The three books would have to be, The Curve by Noelle Bodhaine, any Kristen Ashley book (although I ALWAYS say start with Rock Chick because Lee and the boys show up EVERYWHERE!), and Hero by Samantha Young.

in the spotlight question

What is your current obsession? Any secret obsessions you would like to share?

My current obsession. Well, musically, anything country. And the show Friends. Lame, I know, but it is hilarious. A secret obsession I would like to share…..hmmm. It wouldn’t be a secret anymore if I did that…LOL.

in the spotlight question

What is one question you wish I would have asked, that I haven’t?

Orange or Apple Juice? Orange juice.

in the spotlight question

Any last thoughts or wise words you want to pass along?

I just want to let anyone know who is thinking about writing, to do it. If you have ideas, write them down. Use a notebook or an app on your phone/tablet, but just get it down. Ideas hit you at the most inappropriate times so have something handy. And if you are struggling with something that you currently have been working on (it happens to everyone, so don’t stress too much) try writing at least 100 words a day on it. It keeps you on routine, and 100 words are better than no words.

Also, leave a review. This is so important for authors. Even if you didn’t like it, leave a review that provides constructive feedback. There is always room for improvement, but let us know in a way that doesn’t bash or insult us.

in the spotlight question

That’s great advice, Paisleigh. I strive to leave strong positive and negative reviews for authors.

I wish luck on the release of your first book. When it is available, I hope you’ll come back and tell us all about it.
