Today’s I’m welcoming three Iowa authors, A.R. Miller, Rachel Eliason and Dennis Green, to Second Run Reviews. They’ve joined together to bring the first three books of each of their individual series together in a single package.

The Making of Travelers & Shifters & Fey

by A.R. Miller

A DJ, a hairdresser, and an LGBT activist walk into a sci-fi convention…

That’s not the beginning to a joke, it’s how three writers became friends and collaborators.

When Rachel Eliason approached me about doing a box set, yes rolled off my tongue without a thought. Then it hit me, we need at least one more book to round out the set. Who could we entice to join us? That answer was pretty easy too, as both Rachel and I said simultaneously, “Dennis Green.”

We first met Dennis at an Iowa author signing at DemiCon. Then the three of us hosted a panel at ICON 39 discussing urban fantasy, and we discovered that even though our backgrounds were wildly different, we had a lot in common.

And so do our books. Each of our books deal with how people who think of themselves as normal, even boring deal with the discovery that they have very special abilities that come with both a blessing and a curse. Not to mention a mystery that puts their lives, and the lives of their loved ones in danger.

And our books are all set in Iowa. Mine in a fictional—or is it?—town near Des Moines, Rachel’s in Dubuque, and Dennis’s…well, Dennis never comes right out and says the name of the town his book is set in, but it has a Big Ten University that plays Nebraska in football. You do the math.

With Travelers & Shifters & Fey, we introduce you to visions of an Iowa that could be, through the lens of three unique takes on Fantasy and Science Fiction.

We’d like to thank Terri for hosting the official release of Travelers & Shifters & Fey!

About Travelers & Shifters & Fey

Iowa isn’t considered flyover country for the reasons you think. Dennis Green, A.R. Miller and R.J. Eliason invite you to experience Iowa for what it really is…magical.

All the books are the first in a series and full length novels. It is an Amazon exclusive, but we have removed the DRM. You can convert the file with software, such as Calibre to fit your reading pleasure.

In conjunction with Terri’s post on Second Run Reviews, Travelers & Shifters & Fey will be free, April 8th and 9th.

We hope you enjoy your visit to Iowa!

The Overview

Synopsis: Middle age is supposed to be boring, average at best, but not for stylist Keely Fey. Her Talents are evolving, an imaginary childhood friend reappears and a light elf takes an interest in her. This wouldn’t be so bad, if he weren’t stalking her. As her life tumbles into chaos the authorities decide it’s no coincidence the victims of The Collector are clients of her salon. Welcome to The Meadows, a typical Iowa community, if you’re an Enchant.

About A.R. Miller

A.R. Miller’s contemporary fantasy series, Fey Creations, has been compared to potato chips. ‘Absolutely no nutritional value, but fun to eat and highly addictive.’ A great complement considering potato chips are in the top five of her favorite foods and she strives to do nothing but entertain with her writing. The series revolves around stylist, Keely Fey, the secrets of her heritage and suppressed magical Talents. A.R. lives in Central Iowa with an accommodating husband and their feline companion. When not testing the patience of readers with cliffhanger endings, you might find her wielding a makeup brush or curling iron as a freelance stylist. The next installment of the Fey Creations series is scheduled for later this year.

The Overview

Synopsis: Amanda Burnson is a typical teen with all the typical problems: excess weight, struggles with body odor, random people trying to kill her . . . oh, and her boyfriend just might be a werewolf. At seventeen, Amanda, who has been raised by her neo-pagan uncle, has more friends at the local Renaissance faire than at her high school. Most of her summers are spent at fairs, festivals, and Aunt Maggie’s farm.

There is something new going on in the heart of America, in the small Iowa town that Amanda calls home. The whole town is changing–a tough way to begin a school year. New kids alongside the old; new attitudes colliding with the usual annoying old ones; menacing new faces alongside comforting ones…things will never be the same once this brew is boiled.

About R.J. Eliason

R. J. Eliason is the science fiction/fantasy pen name for Rachel Eliason. She has always been a lover of good books with diverse characters and lush world building. She enjoys reading and writing stories in the fantasy and science fiction genre.

In her mundane life, Rachel is a forty something transgender woman from the Midwest. She works as a nurse in an acute mental health ward.
