Today I’m excited to host C.M. Boers, author of Obscured and Divulge, which is set to be released tomorrow! Here’s your chance to get to know C.M. and learn more about these two exciting novels.
In the Spotlight C.M. Boers
Welcome to Second Run Reviews, C.M.! Thank you for being In the Spotlight. I appreciate you stopping by and answering a few questions. So let’s get things started
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a mother, wife, photographer, writer, and author. I love to write, just love it, editing not so much. I have gone to college for many things (I love going to school, I’m weird), but have only one certification and that’s for Medical Transcription. I have two dogs (a boxer and a mastiff), a black cat, and a bearded dragon named Toothless. I love watching movies and I love it when a book is turned into a movie. I love Disney probably as much as my kids and can’t wait to go back to Disneyland. I love chocolate and I dislike skittles. Random Fact: I’m allergic to the sun.
We appear to have a lot in common! I hope a black cat. I’m a huge Disney fan (I worked at the store for 2 years and chocolate is a food group in my house.
What inspired you to write and release your first novel, Obscured? What’s been your favorite fan reaction to the book?
I was inspired after my first son was born. I found that I had a lot of extra time on my hands Of course that was when he was a newborn and that changed quickly, but I also wanted to feel like I was actually doing something worthwhile and Obscured was born.
My favorite fan reaction…hmm..I’d have to say that when a fan referred to the ending as “killer.” It was probably the biggest compliment she could have given me.
Sounds like that fan is probably anxiously awaiting August 1st to arrive!
What was the most difficult thing about getting published? What was the easiest? If you had to go back and do it all over again, is there any aspect of your stories or getting published that you’d change?
I think the most difficult thing about publishing for me was actually getting the courage to do it. Putting yourself and your work out there to be enjoyed or hated for the first time is beyond scary! The easiest would have to have been designing the cover. I knew exactly what I wanted, thankfully I had the perfect model ready and willing. I think if I could change anything, I probably would have made more of a fuss about the release, I did nothing! Oh well..Past is the past!
Putting something so close to your heart out there in public is scary! I’m tense every time one of my posts goes live. What if there is a terrible typo? What if no one likes my opinion? Some days it is frightening! And it does take a lot of courage to be an author.
What type(s) of books to you enjoy reading most and what three books to you find yourself recommending to your fans over and over?
Now this question is hard for me because I read just about anything. Obviously I prefer YA, but by all means I’m not restricted to that. Recently, I read The Ghost Bird series by C.L. Stone and that was amazing so that would be my number one. My second would be The Doorknob Society series by M. J. Fletcher. Third would have to be Lauren Kate’s Fallen series.
Those are new ones to me. I think you just multiplied by TBR pile like 100.
What’s your current obsession? Any secret obsessions you want to share?
Current obsession…hmm…I think my main focus right now has been getting Divulge ready to release. I can’t say I have any current or secret obsessions, but I will say when I read The Ghost Bird series, I read all 8 books in 8 days. Yeah. I’d say that was an obsession for sure.
You did what?! Holy smokes. I’m lucky if I can finish a book a week. That must been an excellent series. Gotta check those out!
Any last thoughts or wise words you want to pass along?
Divulge, book two, is releasing August 1st!
Congrats on your upcoming release, Divulge. I hope it hits the bestseller list on Amazon. And I hope that you’ll drop back in and tell us how it going before the release of your next book.
