James A. Owen is currently offering the first book in his Mediations series for free for a limited time. It’s well worth the read. I found it inspiring. Get the book on Amazon.com today.
As we creep closer and closer to Christmas, I keep thinking of the huge number of negative things that have happened to me in the past during the winter months. It’s hard, as the days get shorter and darker, not to dwell on those events no matter how many times you tell yourself not to; it’s not worth it.
It becomes difficult to change the cycle and think about the positive events that have happened, but each time I see this quote from James A. Owen, I’m reminded that no matter how many bad things have happened I survived. That one bad event is not the whole story, it’s only a chapter. And like my favorite heroes, I survived. Maybe with a few battle scars, but I survived. I am a survivor.
Taken on July 10, 2010 with a Fujifilm FinePix Z5fd at Palisades-Kepler State Park.

“Bad things can happen, and often do–but they only take up a few pages of your story; and anyone can survive a few pages.”
