It’s Valentine’s Day. And here’s proof positive that I write Scenic Sundays on the spur of the moment. (I know, I know, you thought I had these planned MONTHS in advance!) Because I’ve been writing these, in recent weeks, on the spur of the moment, I seem to have forgotten about Valentine’s Day and that today I should be talking about my one true love or my friends. So that doesn’t leave much of an option for today unless I repeat myself. I suppose I could be lazy and tell you to go back and read the previous two Scenic Sundays. But like you, I’ve grown to love writing and reading these posts and picking out the best picture and quote. So this week’s Scenic Sunday will be about a thing that I am passionate about—a decent cup of coffee.
I love coffee. I might actually love coffee more than chocolate. The thought of a decent cup of coffee is motivation for me in the mornings. There have been mornings when I didn’t want to get out of bed for whatever reason and the IDEA of stopping by Starbucks in our local Hy-Vee or venturing a little bit out of my way to Wit’s End as a reward for being a grown up got my ass out of bed and into the shower.
How important is coffee? I invested in a burr grinder to fill my KCups each morning.
How important is coffee? I gave my sister an old coffee pot of ours (she doesn’t drink coffee) so I could have a cup of joe (or two) in the mornings when I visit. This was after an observation that I’m a bit of a grouch if I don’t get my daily cup.
How important is coffee? I have a Pinterest board dedicated to coffee (and wine).
How important is coffee? It’s one of the reasons I’ve dispelled the idea of traveling back in time.
How important is coffee? After a bad day at work, the smell of freshly brewed coffee and new books at our local Barnes and Noble can cheer me up immediately.
How important is coffee? It’s the main reason this post is coherent as I sit writing it on this early sub-zero winter morning.
Coffee is my health and mana potion rolled into one amazing drink.

“The rich scent of my favorite caffeinated beverage sends trickles of pleasure across my skin as I step inside. Is there anything better than coffee? Chocolate maybe and sex ranks very close I suppose.” A.R. Miller, Disenchanted
