One week. I just need to wait one more week and then I’ll be driving to Kansas City for the largest gathering of science fiction and fantasy fans that I have ever attended.
I’m scared. I’m excited. I’m overwhelmed. I’m nervous. I’m pretty sure I’m already sleep deprived. (Have you seen the schedule? I’ll take my clone now or if someone could deliver a time turner or the TARDIS, I would forever be grateful.)
I’ve already started packing.
Will they all get signed? A girl can dream, right?
And of course, as soon as I put this stack together, I started looking at the list of attending authors and ordered 3 more books from Amazon to try and get signed. I suppose at some point I should probably start packing clothes, huh? I’m almost certain that KC has rules against running around naked in public.
The funniest part of my prepping to leave was my out of office assistance request at work which remained unanswered for several hours and caused me to post this on Facebook.
At which point, my friends promptly reminded me who my true tribe is.
And with that, I am prepared (I think) to journey to Kansas City and seek out more members for my tribe. I’m looking forward to next week with nervous anticipation. But I’m almost certain that I’ll make memories that won’t soon be forgotten.

“When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of ‘Me, too!’ be sure to cherish them.
Because those weirdos are your tribe.”
