Black Friday Hop

Welcome to Second Run Reviews and the 6th Annual Black Friday Book Bonanza Giveaway!

I’m so excited to a part of this giveaway hop. I had a blast last year!

A Little about Second Run Reviews

Second Run Reviews was created in December 2013 to give me the opportunity to share my love of books, movie and television. I’ve always been behind the eight-ball so to speak in following the latest trends so you won’t necessarily find the latest and greatest books reviewed here. If you are looking for something off the beaten path this is definitely the blog for you.

A Little about Me

By day I’m a project manager. I use many of my skills and acquired marking knowledge to keep Second Run Reviews going. My dream would be to make money doing this (or something related to books).

In my spare time, when I’m not working my 9-to-5 job or blogging, I can be found spending time with my horse, Jezebel, or my cats and equally nerdy husband.

My fandoms include Doctor Who, Supernatural, Outlander, Sherlock and Downton Abbey. My latest obsession is The Crown.

About the Books I’m Giving Away

All of these books are like new. A couple of them are signed/personalized. I haven’t read them all, but some of them have been sitting in my shelf of a couple of years and they are no longer of interest to me and I want to give them to a good home!

Two signed books by Sarah Vowell

I met Sarah in Cedar Rapids a couple of years ago. I enjoyed Assassination Vacation, but Unfamiliar Fishes, about the history of Hawaii never grabbed my attention. Both of these books are signed and personalized. Assassination Vacation is paperback and Unfamiliar Fishes is hardcover.

The Killing Moon by N.K. Jemisin

This is book one in the Dreamblood series by N.K. Jemisin. I received this via a Book Riot Quarterly Box. I have a tough time with epic fantasy and hard core science fiction. After a few chapters the world confused me and I gave up.

Audiobook of Mr. Fox by Helen Oyeyemi

I received a paperback copy of Mr. Fox via another Book Riot Quarterly Box. I tried reading the book, the first few pages were interesting (if not a tad bit confusing), but I got distracted. Then I found the audiobook at Half Price Books. The narration on this one annoyed me and I gave up.

The CDs are new and it is the unabridged version narrated by Carole Boyd.

Stork by Wendy Delsol

I met went at the first Iowa City Book Festival I ever attended several years ago. I read this book because it takes place in Minnesota. It’s a fine young adult fantasy novel, but I don’t see myself ever reading the rest of the series. This copy is signed and personalized.

Paperback of Within by Aaron Bunce

See my notes above connected with The Killing Moon plus I have an electronic version of this book and don’t need a paperback copy sitting around.

Hardcover of The Devil’s Evidence by Simon Kurt Unsworth

The publisher randomly sent me this book which looked interesting until I realized it was the second book in the series. The last thing I need in my bookish life right now is yet another series!

For my International Fans

I’m offering an Amazon.com gift card valued up to $10 USD so you can buy a book or two of your choice.

Giveaways offered at Second Run Reviews. Various sponsors.

My holiday wish list is simple. . Just to have an enjoyable time with my children and to be able to give them the wishlist they deserve.

  2. Nikolina

The Oracle Glass by Judith Merkle Riley and Clockwork Princess By Cassandra Clare 🙂

  3. John Smith

Well, I hope to be given some graphic novels, but mostly I expect to buy some cool novel novels for myself.

I don’t have any on my wish list. Nobody ever gets me books as gifts because I want so many that it gets overwhelming. Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

  5. My holiday wishlist, since I won’t be getting world peace this year (again)… sigh… is for my adult kids and my grandkids to enjoy the Christmas holiday season, to be pleased with their gifts and not too greedy, because love is really all we need.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer. Gift cards are always great too! Thanks for the giveaway!

I heard about a book on NPR the other day. I’s a memoir called “The Making of a Racist”, by Charles Dew. I have it on order, and can’t wait to read it.
