In the Spotlight feature kicked off in April 2015 and is an opportunity for authors, editors and publishers (basically anyone in the book industry (yes, even bloggers!)) to connect with fans. There is an option to do an interview, guest post, feature a book sale or book release or a cover reveal. Best of all, it’s free! All you need to do is click on the image to reserve your spot!
Now on with the show!
In the Spotlight with Tricia Andersen
Welcome to Second Run Reviews, Tricia! Thank you for being In the Spotlight. I appreciate you stopping by and answering a few questions. So let’s get things started.
In a tweet (140 characters or less), tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m a little wacky, a little scary, a lot of fun and I like to write big, bad guys who fall in love.
Ah! That’s sweet. Big guys often just teddy bears. 🙂
Please tell a bit about your journey to becoming a published author. What’s been the best things about it and the worst?
I actually started my journey years ago when I was a young mom and wife in college. I had just written my first kid’s book. There was no such thing as self publishing unless it was vanity publishing. My husband tried so hard to find a way to get it published until I told him to stop. Fast forward when my oldest was in college. One of his friends told him about CreateSpace. I thought I’d try to publish my children’s book until I couldn’t do it anymore. Before I knew it I had a published book!
The best thing about being a published author is getting to share my stories with others. I think the worst is waiting – for edits, for uploads, for seeing the first sales numbers.
There are so many great tools out there, like Createspace, that let you publish your books and get them to fans.
Tell us a bit about your latest release. What inspired you to write it? Why should fans of Second Run Reviews consider reading it.
My latest release is Breaking the Violence, Book Three of the Hard Drive Series. It comes out in March 2017. I was inspired by a troubled time in my past that I’ve been trying to write about for years. I love my hero—he’s a huge teddy bear. It’s a romance anyone can read (not too spicy) and everyone who has read it to this point loves it.
The 3rd book in a series! Awesome. I hope fans of Second Run Reviews check out all three books!
What types of books do you enjoy reading the most? What three books to you find yourself recommending to your fans over and over?
I love reading paranormal books which is crazy since I just started writing it. I frequently recommend the Fever Series and the Highlander Series by Karen Marie Moning. I also love Harry Potter. And without a doubt I recommend Murder at the Roosevelt Hotel by Diane Langton if you’re into non-fiction. It’s amazing!
Your mom’s an author, too?! Wow! Has she signed up to be In the Spotlight yet? 😉
What is your current obsession? Any secret obsessions you would like to share?
My biggest obsessions are probably coffee and jiu jitsu. Get me Starbucks or Caribou and I’ll love you forever.
Oh yeah, and I am also obsessed with episodes of Roswell on Netflix. I watch all the time. Quietly. By myself. Shh…
Roswell? Sounds like some intense, much need research for your next book.
And coffee is NOT an obsession. It is a necessity.
What is one question you wish I would have asked, that I haven’t?
Do you have any projects in the works?
Yes, I’m finishing the first book in what hopefully will be a paranormal series about MMA fighting werewolves. I’m working on the last (maybe) book of the Black Irish Series and I’ll be starting on the next book of the Hard Drive Series.
Any last thoughts or wise words you want to pass along?
Never give up on your dreams. And keep reading. Always read. Having a imagination is priceless and knowledge is power.
All great words of wisdom, Tricia. I have to keep reading or my TBR pile will topple over and kill me while I sleep.
Good luck with your upcoming projects, Tricia. I hope you’ll return to In the Spotlight soon to give us an update on your next release!
