From the time I was a small child I have loved history, reading, writing, and exploring what this great big world has to offer. Going back to school to earn degrees in history and anthropology have only deepened these first loves. Having recently returned from a trip to the British Isles, where I further explored my international ancestral roots, I found myself appreciating all the more what my native state of Indiana has to offer the world and the effects of the world upon its people and culture. I knew I was not alone in this and it is for the purpose of sharing this love that I decided to create The Hoosier Historian.

After creating The Hoosier Historian e-magazine, I began to look more closely at my love of writing and decided to publish some of the books I had written over the years for family members or just for fun. The Immortal Legacy Series and the Hadrian’s Wall time travel series are the product of my love of family, history, writing, and imagination.

The best and worst thing about my author journey was overcoming my fears and insecurities and gather the courage to put my work out there. I hope to write and publish many more books over the coming years from a wide range of genres.

In all of my books I strive to create characters that no matter how terrible things can get in life they find a way to not just survive, but to thrive. It is my hope that readers can find some encouragement in that.

My most recent fiction release is All Roads Lead to Rome (Hadrian’s Wall Book One). It is about, Ashlynn James, a southern Indiana country girl working on an archaeological dig along Hadrian’s Wall in the Anglo-Scottish border country when she finds an ancient Roman coin among the rubble. Reading aloud the Latin inscription upon the coin’s face, Ashlynn finds herself swept back in time to one of the ancient world’s most dangerous empires, Roman-occupied Britain.

Enslaved, tortured, and molested beyond human endurance, Ashlynn climbs to the top of Hadrian’s Wall and steps off into the darkness. Broken, but breathing Ashlynn survives the fall and is taken by Pict raiders to their village. Will Ashlynn find herself in the same torturous life of an abused slave or will she find, in this cruel land, a place to call home?

All Roads Lead to Rome takes place along the border of England and Scotland and contains elements of archaeology, time travel, slavery, abuse, healing, and survival during Roman occupied Britain. Book one includes historical references to the Roman occupation of Britain and the Pict warriors who held them at bay.

What types of books do you enjoy reading the most? What three books do you find yourself recommending to your fans over and over?

I love historical fiction of all kinds, but I am especially fond of historical romance and fantasy. I love too many books to narrow it down, but I do recommend the Sherlock Holmes series by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim, and Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.
