In the Spotlight with Romarin Demetri
Welcome to Second Run Reviews, Romarin Demetri! Thank you for being In the Spotlight. I appreciate you stopping by and answering a few questions. So let’s get things started.
In a tweet (140 characters or less), tell us a bit about yourself.
Romarin Demetri has a compulsion for writing that cannot be tamed. Currently penning Paranormal Romance full of magic, mayhem, and twists.
Please tell a bit about your journey to becoming a published author.
I attended Kent State University for English and Psychology so I would have a formal education in writing. Experience is always the most important part of learning, and on my journey so far, I’ve now written well over half a million words. Seeing your own growth from first person is rewarding, and I am elated to share my new series with readers. My writing has grown from being an interest of someone with a love and talent, to being a career for someone who knows when to cut words, refine, and make her work as crisp as possible.
What are the best things about your journey and the worst?
The best thing about the writing journey is meeting new friends and readers! Whether it’s online or at events, meeting new readers has been the greatest joy. I want me readers to know how thankful I am for them, and the enthusiasm they spread to others!
The worst thing is not having all of the time in the world to write. I’ve discovered it’s a compulsion for me to want to write stories and I couldn’t stop it if I tried.
Tell us a bit about your latest release. What inspired you to write it? Why should fans of Second Run Reviews consider reading it.
My latest release is paranormal romance, that is grounded in dark and urban fantasy, though new adult themes such as a crazy-cool job on London’s witch Coven is front and center. It’s also packed full of romance. I wanted to listen to what readers would enjoy most for my second book series, and when it comes to supernatural type books, readers can’t get enough of PNR!
What types of books do you enjoy reading the most? What three books to you find yourself recommending to your fans over and over?
I enjoy fiction with elements of paranormal, but also page-turning books! If I have a non-fiction book in my possession usually it’s history or psychology. Last time I was in a book store, I recommended Lynne Ewing’s Daughters of the Moon series to a friend! It got me into Latin when I was a teenager (and ultimately a Magna Cum Laude on the National Latin exam), and I loved that all of the main characters had a dark side. Don’t we all?
What is your current obsession? Any secret obsessions you would like to share?
I asked the one person who would know: my husband, and he naturally said that I’m obsessed with either writing my new series or him. I’d love to take a moment to be warm and fuzzy and thank him for supporting my writing so far and listening to all the crazy bits about the story.
What is one question you wish I would have asked, that I haven’t? And please answer it!
What sets your newest work apart from other books in the same genre?
Readers will get two characters to root for, both traditionally trained, ass-kicking martial artists, who navigate their way through a dangerous 10 year paranormal job–and (but of course): love. Rose, a naturally disciplined personality, whose love of all things astrology often threatens her ways of rational thinking, will test out her impulses and challenge the root of her values. The sassy and quick-witted, Helaine, will have to prove her worth and step out of her family’s shadow, all while getting swept up in being the hopeless romantic she is. You get two stories in one, adding to the truth that a reader lives a thousand lives.
Any last thoughts or wise words you want to pass along?
I’d love to let readers know how infinity important they are. When you recommend a book or leave a review, your voice is louder than you know! You matter so much to your authors, and we are thankful humbled, and honored when you choose us!
Thank you for being In the Spotlight, Romarin. Good luck with all your future writing endeavors.
Synopsis: Sometimes the only way to find yourself is to crash and burn. When Romarin wakes up in a foreign country with super-powers, a jumbled memory, and a taste for blood, her only chance at survival is to trust in strangers, who lend every meaning possible to the word. If she wants to learn to control her powers, Romarin must gain the trust of the misfits living in Whitham Castle, who are haunted by the aftermath of a horrible experiment which still casts a sinister shadow over London’s supernatural underground. Can Romarin, the descendant of Countess Bathory, summon all of the reckless brilliance she possesses to find herself and unite her new friends? Or will their need for vengeance and taste for revenge put an end to them all?
“The plot is intriguing and fairly well executed, the story is interesting with well-rounded characters and unusual twists. The way the paranormal story plays out keeps the reader guessing as to the nature of the main character, as well as the nature of several of the other characters. The story lines weave well into each other, creating an intriguing journey that keeps the reader turning the pages. Overall, it is a good read, and I enjoyed the book. I would recommend it to anyone who likes paranormal adventures.”- Kris Moger, Reader’s Favorite
